The Hypervelocity Impact Symposium (HVIS) Distinguished Scientist Award

One of the highlights of the symposium is the presentation of the Distinguished Scientist Award. This prestigious award is presented in recognition of outstanding contributions to the field of hypervelocity impact science. Nominations should be in the form of a letter naming the individual and describing their lifetime contributions to the field. The selection criteria for this award include:

  • Length of time in the field
  • Areas of expertise, including status as expert
  • Role in developing experimental or modeling techniques
  • Impact on the current understanding or approach to community
  • Identification of a new direction for research
